Welcome to my Rev.com review. There are so many websites that claim to help you make money online. Some are legit, but most are not.
If you are new to how making money online works, it could be hard to tell the difference.
This is why I write reviews. I know your time is precious and you don’t want to waste it. I want you to be able to make an educated decision.
With that said… let’s see if you can make money with Rev.com.
But wait if you want to learn how to make real money online check out my #1 recommendation.
What is Rev.com?
Rev.com is a website where people can get affordable transcription, captioning, and foreign subtitling services. Rev is proud to have a large network of professional transcriptionists and more than 50,000 freelancers all over the world. These people are called “Revvers.”
Rev is based in the U.S. cities of San Francisco and Austin. It has been written about in Forbes, The New York Times, Business, Insider, and other major publications. On its website, the company says it has worked with more than 170,000 clients.
Requirements
You must meet many Rev.com requirements in order to sign up and generate money with this firm, including:
You must be at least 18 years old.
Possessing a PayPal account
Knowledge of the English language
Getting a good grade on a grammar test
send in a transcription sample for review.
If you are already a native English speaker, you should have no trouble meeting these requirements.
You don’t need a degree or any prior expertise to use Rev.
Rev wants to know that you can do the work by giving you a sample to transcribe. It may take you a while to transcribe it but you will also determine when this work is right for you
Also, Rev is available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States (excluding California.)
Finally, having a nice pair of headphones is a smart idea when working for Rev because hearing audio files properly is vital.
To be a successful Rev transcriptionist and captioner, you must have the following skills:
Outstanding command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, vocabulary, capitalization, and punctuation.
Sharp listening skills and an understanding of various regional accents
Excellent concentration and focus
Typing speed is essential. If you are a two-finger typist I suggest you think about another line of work.
A broad general understanding of many themes and subject matters so that you are conversant with industry-specific terms and jargon
How Much Does Rev.com Pay?
The amount you are paid as a Revver is determined by the type of work you complete. You have three options, each of which will pay you the following:
Transcriptionists earn between $0.30 and $1.10 for every audio/video minute.
Captioner rates range from $0.54 to $1.10 for each audio/video minute.
Translator/Subtitler – $1.50-$3.00 per minute of audio/video
A transcriptionist must be able to listen to video or audio and type what has been spoken accurately. A captioner must view videos, type up dialogue, communicate sounds, and match typed audio to video.
If you are fluent in a foreign language, you can translate and subtitle, which pays more. Every Monday, a Revver is compensated via PayPal for the preceding week’s labor.
Who is Rev.com for?
People who are unable to work a standard 9 to 5 job typically benefit from Rev. That is why work-life balance is something that many Revvers value.
Housewives with small children, people who care for family members, people with impairments, travelers, retired professionals, and college students who desire to work part-time are all examples.
Pros
Excellent work-life balance
You are free to work as much or as little as you choose.
Allows people to work part-time even if they stay at home Weekly and on-time payment
Cons
Pay is low for the amount of work involved.
Inequitable metric/grading system
The audio in most videos is distorted.
There isn’t enough work for everyone.
